State Sen. Bill Ketron is joining a legislative effort to end mandatory vehicle emissions tests in several Middle Tennessee counties such as Rutherford.
Ketron (R-Murfreesboro) said Thursday he joined sponsorship of a bill that would stop the testing in Hamilton, Davidson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson counties.
“The burden of emissions testing is a common complaint I hear when talking to constituents,” Ketron said. “Rutherford County was pulled into the attainment zone mostly due to the pollutants that were coming out of Davidson County. Also, we have seen many changes with technologies that produce cleaner cars, so it is past time to end this burdensome requirement.”
